Beside the usual show, the GeekFist crew created and celebrated their very own holiday called Troll-Mas. The idea was to give other members of the crew something related to their interests but totally unexpected. OmegaZed took on the challenge by delivering Ninjago figures to the crew, but Krismas countered with Redakai, trolling with it not once but twice in the same episode! Needless to be said, the special events will continue and Troll-imania has been born! Details on that will be coming soon.

On Tuesday, December 13, the daring new dramedy webseries “THE STREET FIGHTER” premieres on The Game Station.

It’s the story of Phil, a journalist who loses his job and enters the world of pro-am fighting game tournaments to earn the respect of his son. Guest starring a host of famous YouTubers including iJustine and KassemG (full list below) and competitive gamer Alex Valle, “THE STREET FIGHTER” is a six-part narrative (twice a week, all thru December!) shot on the RED EPIC and directed by The Game Station’s own Layne Pavoggi. “THE STREET FIGHTER” is written by Aaron Umetani (“THE BROTHERS MARIO”) and produced by Aaron Zaragoza.

New York Comic Con/Anime Festival Day 1 Report

While the New York Comic Con was the definitive highlight of the weekend, tucked away in the upper levels of the Javits Center with a beautiful open area of sunshine and windows was the New York Anime Festival. Led by a throng of fan-artists and dealer displays selling their custom made hats, costumes and trinkets, the New York Anime Festival bathed in newfound glory, much like the anime industry itself.

In the years prior, the NYAF was shoved in a corner in the basement of the Javits Center like a forgotten stepchild and met with criticism from the die hard anime fans that live in the tri-state area that felt disrespected. It was as if anime didn’t matter amongst the Hollywood folk and the much bigger comic book and video game industries.

Those voices definitely weren’t ignored this year as the NYAF was given a breath of fresh air, much like the anime industry has been given a second chance at life through the evolution of digital distribution and the internet. GeekFist Radio sat down with fellow geek comedian extraordinaire Uncle Yo (www.uncleyo.com), cosplay entertainer Mario Bueno (www.mariobueno.com) and a fellow fan and artist ByronDZero to discuss the rebirth of the anime industry, the convention itself and how conventions like the New York Comic Con are for the fans, by the fans. Afterwards, we met up with Frankie Muniz and director Joe Eckhardt to discuss the new superhero all-ages film, “Pizza Man.” Frankie has been away from the industry for awhile now and we were all shocked that he would make his return with a film like this. The film stars not just him, but Diamond Dallas Page, Roddy Rowdy Piper, Corbin Bensen, Shelley Long, Stan Lee and Adam West. We sat down with Frankie and the director of the film to discuss not only the film itself, but how they were enjoying the con as well.

It's so beautiful.

While Sony did previously say it would be available in the global market “starting” at the end of 2011, Sony’s highly anticipated follow up to the PlayStation Portable, the PlayStation Vita, will not make a state side launch by the end of this year. Japan will be receiving the Vita in time for the 2011 holidays. Sony now plans on pushing back the US/European release until some time in early 2012.

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Chairman Kaz Hirai stated to the press in Tokyo that the launch would not be accompanied by a lowered price, despite Nintendo’s recent price drop on the Nintendo 3DS.

“We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable,” Hirai said. “There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.”

Some see this delay as a good thing as it might give the Vita more time to acquire titles for it’s launch as the line up, as it stands right now, is pretty weak. I personally think that this delay is a bad idea financially for Sony, but then again, when does Sony ever think about what will work out in their favor.

The PS Vita will start at $249 for a WiFi only model, alongside a 3G-enabled version for $299. PS Vita games will run you $39.99.

This week the Geek Fist boys talk about Patapon 3, L.A. The Dragunity Legion structure deck introduced the Dragon Ravine field spell card and it is perhaps one of the most powerful thematic field spells to be printed in a long time. It searches out whatever Dragunity you may need to add to your hand, or it lets you mill either Phalanx or Aklys to be comboed with Dux or Legionnaire making for many fantastic plays. The Dragunity deck loves opening hands that involve a Terraforming or Dragon Ravine, Dragunity Phalanx and Dragunity Dux in hand. Dux plus Phalanx leads into Dragunity Knight Vajrayana which in turn leads into either Stardust Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend, Scrap Dragon or any other powerful 8 star synchro monsters. The Legionnaire-Aklys combo turns one monster into an Icarus Attack on legs, let alone if you have Icarus Attack set you can potentially wipe out four of your opponent’s cards for just two of yours. The vast destruction plays this deck can amass are numerous and plentiful.

Speak Softly and Carry A Big Sword

I’m certain a surprising card that some of you may see is the inclusion of Mystletainn. I prefer using it over other Dragunity monsters simply because in my opinion, so many people are playing Effect Veiler (as am I in this deck) and Mystletainn is a good answer to that card. For example, lets say that you summon Dragunity Dux and activate its effect upon summoning and your opponent activates Effect Veiler. Suddenly you’re stuck with a Dux sitting alone and vulnerable. Mystletainn fixes all that, letting you send your Dux to the graveyard to special summon Mystletainn and still let you get your preferred 8 star Synchro on the field.

Search The Earth. Win.

In the spell department we’ve maxed out on 3 copies of Dragon Ravine and Terraforming respectively. The field spell is the deck’s most important tool allowing you to set up your big Synchro plays on a consistent basis. Cards of Consonance is a great card to draw into the deck, and Pot of Avarice lets you recycle your spent Dux and Legionnaire and even Vajrayana (remember that Synchro monsters return to the Extra Deck when bounced from the field or when Pot of Avarice is used to bring them back) for future use and lets you shuffle your deck and give you brand new cards.

Greed Is Good

The trap lineup always seems to be a big debate for Dragunity players. Some would rather play Icarus Attack and others prefer Trap Stun. Icarus Attack is in my opinion too good not to run and when combined with Legionnaire as mentioned above, it is a devastating play that may just swing the game in your favor when playing. Solemn Warning is approaching a huge trade and sale value and some players may utilize Seven Tools of the Bandit instead as an alternative option.

Blow Stuff Up

I’ve left out the  Side Deck and Extra Deck purposely as these are the areas that differ from player to player. Right now the best I can tell you is try what works against your expected local meta-game and experiment with a lot of practice and adaptation. 3 copies of Dragunity Knight Vajrayana are definitely considered a staple portion of the Extra Deck as well as Trident Dragion for its One-Turn Kill opportunity. Experiment and find what works best for you if you are looking to play Dragunity in the near future.

If you’re familiar with the main Kinect Hub, navigating the menus is about the same, with items lined up horizontally like the above picture, and the ability to scroll through them by swiping your hand. Selecting movies is done by hovering via motion or calling via generic terms like “Video 1″, though it’s strange that selecting TV shows is only limited to the episode recommended, and there’s no way to select individual episodes at this time. While playing, control is similar to the Zune hub, with Play, Rewind, and Fast Forward controls at the ready via voice, or by a motion controlled slider similar to the way the iPod Touch handles it’s movie that works better than you would expect. A nifty preview window shows exactly where you’re scrolling and you can swipe down to stop at any time, making it hard to go back to the “slideshow” esque picture montage that’s the program’s default.

While it would’ve been nice to have the entire hub open for control, it’s almost normal to expect this kind of early implementation. New features have always been a bit of a slow drip when it comes to the Instant Queue, and while it won’t replace the standard hub, especially in this state, it’s undeniable that as a preview of things to come, it’s pretty cool.

Now….where’s my 1080p/5.1 streaming support?!
