I am going to be honest, I fell asleep after to getting to Kyoto from Osaka. It’s not my fault, the combination of a godlike hotel room, jet lag and peace with a side of quiet put me down for the count. I don’t remember much except waking up at 3 a.m. and watching really crappy anime. I didn’t play anything when I got to Kyoto. Arturo mentioned that I should hit up A-Cho while I was in the area. I made that how I closed out my trip to Japan.
I am going to give you a brief bullet point synopsis of what I did before I made it to A-cho that evening(this isn’t a travel blog after all and you can just email me to ask about the trip ;D )
With that brief tour of A-cho you now know where I was playing. Up until this point I was doing ok in the arcades beating most people on my way to finish my stay at a respectable 38-38, a 50% win ratio. I can say with confidence that a lot has changed in my game and having a character I can use on the arcade really helps with my comfort level. Not only was I running my usually Cammy, I brought my good luck charm Applejack to help sooth my nerves. All was well until I ran into a pair of Yuns named O.S.T. and N.O. 17.
These two Yuns along with C-type(the Honda player from Osaka) combined to give me more than 20 of my losses I am going to assume. I don’t know what it was maybe it’s just like Andre “Twisted Jago” Lambert said I don’t know when to punish and know when people are in recovery. There were quite a few moments in my matches where I wasn’t too sure if I should press a button or not. Or the biggest question was should just ultra to try and punish a move.
While I did eek out a win or two against the Yuns
the overall result was I just got blown up. I took a few things away from these matches. The first being that Yun will only be a problem a few months after the release of AE once people learn how to use him. The second thing I’ve noticed is that Yun takes damage and has low life. One of the major things I’ve noticed is how much I improved overall up to this point. I used to be very free in the first version of Street Fighter 4 and pretty not good until recently. I guess ‘hard work’ pays off. My record could easily be higher but I went on autopilot. I have to keep myself interested in the match when the people aren’t that good I guess. Maybe try to end it quickly and efficiently as possible.
The rest of the match videos are located here.
Now that I’m back it’s just a matter of adjusting to jet lag D:
