"Better than The Phantom Menace, but that doesn't say much."
One of the only highlights to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was the funky pod racing segment. Anakan Skywalker piloting his shoddy rig throughout a rather large racing track, at unbelievable speeds was an entertaining, and occasionally gripping segment to a movie that was ruined by a CG goofball with the mannerisms of Michelle Tanner from Full House. With Star Wars Episode I Racer on the Nintendo 64, you can relive the breathtaking thrills provided by the first installment of the Star Wars franchise….as well as numerous tracks that are really not that much of a thrill. While the look and overall design of the layout for each track is definitely worth noting, outside the iconic first track, there’s nothing you’ll really care to experience. The sound effects match up nicely to the activity going on, the controls, while they take some time to get completely comfortable with, work as indeed, but there’s nothing worth viewing outside the initial track. Extra parts and vehicles, tweaking, all of the minute additions are appreciated, but in the end, there’s really nothing to hook you in for long. It’s not the most expensive find, so if you’re curious about how the game fares, it won’t be such a detrimental purchase. Just be sure to realize that, although everything works as intended, and it can be a lot of fun, there’s nothing that will keep you coming back after the initial race.

The tracks are all imaginative in their own ways, but there's really nothing that will grab your attention for a long enough period of time.
