Storm: Hello, my name is Daniel also known as Storm of CLGAMER. Who are you?
Justin: My name is Justin Whitney, Solid State Drive marketing but i’ve been involved in nearly every project at Intel.
St: Awesome, so what group of people are you targeting with this new line of products?
JW: With this particular line we’re targeting the gaming crowd, first person shooter fans, the Over-clockers on forums. Mostly the guy who builds his own PC and knows what he’s doing. The name isn’t even actually decided on for the line yet. We have several that we are considering at this time.
ST: What price ranges are you targeting with this particular lineup?
JW: On the low end at least $800 for a build. That’s including Ram, Cpu, Psu, everything. In this line the lowest end is a core i5 for $200 with skimped parts, and in the $200 range for a CPU.
ST: What are your thoughts on the importance of an SSD in a build and what are the advantages over a normal HDD?
JW: The SSDs are more for a higher-end crowd. A normal hard drive can fail due to stress, shock, or being dropped from heights due to platter damage. For 3d modeling, multi-tasking or any normal tasks the user will see signifigant gains on performance.
ST: As far as price and capacity being the most fair to the average consumer?
JW: I would say the 80gb SSD for $200 is the best price for value. The user can store their Operating system and key applications. and get a good balance between price and performance.
ST: Could the lack of an ssd be a bottleneck for a higher end PC?
JW: Yes, it can always can be a bottleneck. You have good ram and a cpu then it’s your drive speed holding you back.
ST: What is the most important upgrades to a PC?
JW: CPU is always the most important followed by the addition of a SSD for quick access to your OS which is key to a smooth flowing system.
ST: What can actually dmg a SSD?
JW: Pretty much just water, they’re magnetically shielded with no moving parts. Shaking does nothing. they do wear over time like any part however you can write and rewrite forever. One new advancement is the way it distributes the cells intelligently for writing evenly on sectors.
ST: What are your thoughts on a partnership with Nvidia or ATI?
JW: No I won’t do it, no benefit in alienating one company over the other.
ST: Well that wraps this interview up. Thank you so much for your time.
JW: Thank you for the valuable information you’ve given us and we strive to best understand our consumer base.
