365//365: Day 271 – Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout (NES) [PP]

It’s my 30th birthday, so to celebrate this milestone, we’re going to talk about the ultimate birthday bash that should be avoided like the plague — Bugs Bunny’s Birthday Blowout! Celebrate Bugs’ 50th birthday by running around uninspiring worlds, with all of Bugs’ friends trying to kill him! Avoid soap boxes that burp out bubbles, hammers that hit nothing and bottomless pits you’ll never see coming! It’s okay though — even with the rampant pits and spikes all around, you’ll never feel as if you’re being challenged. Between stages you can win a wealth of extra lives, almost never having to worry about being short on men, unless you intentionally jump off a cliff over and over. Your main attack is a hammer, in which you need to jump on top of an enemy and bash them with it, in order to defeat them. Unfortunately, getting hit even once will send you into an invulnerability period that lasts eons, taking away your ability to attack. While this enables you to cruise on by without fear of being harmed, you erase all semblance of strategy that was left in Birthday Blowout. The music is borderline nauseating, with sound effects you’ll almost never notice. Pretty sure I’m going to spend the rest of my birthday lighting my 20+ year old copy of Bugs Bunny’s Birthday Blowout on fire like a giant candle, and proceed to put out the flame with the heel of my shoe. Celebrate your cherished day of birth by never playing Bugs Bunny’s Birthday Blowout.

....happy birthday indeed....sigh....
