Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 shouldn’t even exist, especially the Super Nintendo version. Everything that was negative about Mortal Kombat 3 is not addressed. Animalities have been removed in favor of a Brutality, which, surprise surprise, is another long convoluted list of button inputs. The audio sounds degraded, probably a casualty to the cart and system limitations somehow being pushed to its limits. Several characters have either returned or made their debuts as playable fighters, though again, they really add nothing to the product. The same issues with the difficulty spikes run rampant in Ultimate, making the single player game painful and borderline useless. Multiplayer gaming has not changed, and provides the same frills that the previous game did. Visually, the experience has degraded somewhat, due to whatever magical limitations the developers ran into this time around. Whatever tweaks that were performed to each character could have been done in the previous game before its release. It’s hard to define whether or not Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was nothing but the series being milked as far as it could go, or a failed attempt to cash on the peak of Mortal Kombat fever. Avoid Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 if you care about playing a title that isn’t a near complete rehash.
