So the final day of E3 came and went. I must say it was an intense 3 days and there was a ton of walking and running to appointments and trying to squeeze in some gaming. As with the first 3 end of the days I’ll touch on things quick and then when I get back to the East coast I’ll get you some in depths.
The first major game I took a look at was Homefront from THQ. The story and the presentation of that game may make it the best one player FPS on the market. I agree with Jason with his view of the game. I was impressed by it. I can’t wait to get my hands on it (that’s what she said) and see how the story unfolds. I dimissed the game as more generic FPS fodder but I was won over by the story presentation.
Another title I played was Vanquish from Sega.I enjoyed it a ton. It’s an Sega action game with sliding into into cover and transforming guns. I saw the trailer and I thought it was going to be Gears of Armored Core War, if you get my drift. After asking the Sega reps a few questions, it seems as if this game may go the way of Bayonetta. The controls were straight forward and there was bullet time included in the game.
I finally got to play MVC 3 today. It was interesting I think some things need to be changed, the hit boxes feel a bit off and somethings connect that should not. In the eight or so matches I’ve played I have only lost to two people one of them being Jason. The art style of the game is similar to Tatsunoko vs Capcom but minor changes. I don’t think I like it because with all the added stuff it kind of becomes a bit hard to follow action. There also seemed to be a noticable lag on a lot of the game. Things that should be blockable weren’t unless they left things extremely punishable. Even then I felt a bit of input lag. I did like the characters. I used Morrigan, Felicia ,Wolvie, Chris Redfield and Deadpool. I liked the Darkstalkers characters the most
I randomly bumped into Star Slayer.
I got to play Fist of the North Star for 360 and I wasn’t impressed. The game was manly indeed however it had a ton of problems. It was slow, too clunky and it’s Dynasty Warriors. I don’t know how to feel. I did hit someone with Hokutou Sakuretsu Ken.
I saw the Old Republic today. It’s Bioware so you’re getting a good Rpg experience but then it is also an MMO. There were some announcements made. One of them was that everyone gets their own starship, another was the bad ass gear that you get as you get level up. They showed off the bounty hunter class and the guy went from scrub to Fett in a few levels. I think I might want to run bounty hunter.
Force unleashed was also shown but I’ll leave that to Jason V since he’s a fan of the series. The game looked good but I didn’t play the first one.
Mortal Kombat was a movie and not a playable demo. I know some body that will be disappointed.
The Lakers won the title and downtown LA transformed into like a crisis zone. It’s pretty intense. I’ll be back in NYC on Sunday so I’ll start my full set ups.
