E3 Day 2

E3 day had me doing mad dashes all over the expo floor getting to various meetings. I’ll touch on this stuff lightly and when I get to a working and real internet connection (not this Mayfair lame crap)I’ll do more in-depth stuff. So are you ready for a info dump? No you say? Well too bad here it comes.

First thing I’ve noticed is that Chris Redfield is a monster. Seriously that man cannot be stopped in Marvel vs Capcom 3. He’s probably Cable tier maybe even better. Second Dante looks to have an infinite based off of his launcher. He’s probably going to be a favorite because of his anti-air, because it’s eerily similar to Captian Commando’s in MVC. Lastly Deadpool might suck. He reminds me of Hurricane Polymar without the Hurricane Polymar-ness. The opening to the game looks good but I couldn’t get to hear the music. I hope it’s more T-pain and auto tune.

Seth Killian was there and he’s always the popular man on campus. MVC3 is nominated for best of E3 as it should be its up there with MK3(which I havent’ even seen because the damned doors are always closed) and there’s always a 40 minute line.

The first game I got to play was Sniper. It’s the standard Fps fare but it focuses mainly on sniper play, involving stealth and actually lining up your shots efficiently. I saw a bit of the game run and it is set at a lower price point which is good. I feel with some tweaks this game could be a sleeper hit. I suggested a bunch of stuff to the devs and they were open to the ideas. So we will see what happens.

I’m trying to recall everything while getting dressed and listening to some J-pop so bare with me. I played Gothic 4 and I wasn’t impressed. It seemed like a Fable clone on the first play through and the build I played wasn’t that far into the cycle to be fair graphically. The story includes elements from the previous installments so some research is in order for me. The combat was basically mash X dodge, time your mashes of X and dodge some more. However there are supposed to be over a few hundred weapons in the game. So I am expecting a bit of depth from that.

Quick Hit,(I’ll flesh this out when I get out to NY) is a football game you can play on your browser and honestly it’s probably going to replace fantasy football. You pick your plays and you watch the outcome. You get to unlock players, sign free agents and do all the things you do in fantasy football but you can do this in real time. So you really could have a league going. I can’t really begin to tell you how big this could be.

I played Splatterhouse today. It was really interesting to hear the conversation between Rick and the Mask. The gameplay is the God-of-whatever you want formula but it’s darker because it’s Splatterhouse. Also the original games are included with the new game. :3

Chris Redfield is an animal. I can’t stress that enough. I can see why Wesker hates him.

I beat Prod1gy today at Super Street Fighter IV and I won 20 bucks for it. He picked Juri and Dictator. I beat him 2-0 in the set and the matches went 2-0,2-1 respectively. I used Cammy of course.

Rockband 3 now supports 3 mics, has a 7 player band mode, pro-mode and has over 2000 songs. I was pleased to see some Smashmouth on the set lists. This game kills Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero needs to intergrate the Dj turntables and some other stuff if they want to catch up. I played Queens Bohemian Rhapsody and shut down E3 for the day, literally after I played it they closed the event hall.
