Blade & Soul is a new MMORPG from NCSoft (Lineage, Guild Wars, Aion). It has been in production for some time now (I know, I know, sorry for not telling you!) and is scheduled for a TBA 2011 release. The famous Hyung-tae Kim (Manga Carta) will be doing the character design. Not much is known about the game, but it is rumored to be for PS3 and PC. In 2007 at E3 NCSoft signed a contract to produce exclusively for PS3 as far as consoles go, so that rumor is highly likely to be true. The video above is the most recent trailer, excerpted out of a long interview with the creators. The full version can be found here: http://www.bladeandsoul.com/global/en

All footage is actual game play.

From what we can see in the trailer, there are possibilities of wall running. They definitely have the impressive skill factor down too. As someone who has played NCSoft games before, here is what I know about what kinds of things they produce;

1. Character models and armor is generally modeled very well.
2. There is always a strong focus on PVP.
3. They create breathtaking views.
4. Aside from the main drives of the game (quests, bosses, guilds) there can be a lack of end-game content.
5. We tend to see higher numbers of damage compared to other MMOS.
7. The games tend to be very guild/clan focused.

I am very excited for this game, great visuals, good models, pretty environment, PVP emphasis? Yes please. What I hope for is that the battle system will be combo based, even more so if it will be on a console. Similar to N3 or PSO maybe. As new updates are posted, I will keep you guys informed!

I live out in Seattle, Washington and work in the gaming industry. Gaming and I have a casual relationship right now, as I was big on MMOs for many years. I won't hesitate to get competitive though! I'm also a fan of anime and most things nerdy. I'd rather watch the History and Discovery channel more than anything else when I'm in front of the TV! Back in the day I jumped from Super Nintendo, to Dreamcast, to the original XBOX. By most gamer's standards I was deprived. High school was the first time I really got serious about games when a friend of mine got me in to Ragnarok Online. From there I jumped to L2 and FFXI. Now I play many genres and styles of games, and am nerdier than ever!
