365//365: Day 140 – Spider Man 2: The Sinister Six (GBC) [PP]

05.20.2010

Bears in a sewer. Princess Leia on a rooftop. Clowns. It’s almost as if Conan O’Brien had his own video game, but unfortunately, the only comedy you’ll find here is how laughably dull the game is. Spider Man 2: The Sinister Six on the Game Boy Color is not necessarily your typical Spider Man on a portable system, as the game wasn’t as bad as they all tended to be. The animation is actually some of the more fluid animations you’ll see in a pre-Game Boy Advance title, not to mention that the overall graphics are pretty good for a Game Boy Color title, with enough color variation to stave off repetition. The music gets the action moving along as well, with satisfactory sound effect pushing you along. The problem? It’s boring. There’s really no hook to the game whatsoever. It’s pick up and play at its best, but you’ll find neither fun, nor good times with it, but at the same time, there’s no technical flaws that make the experience worse than it seems. Spider Man 2: The Sinister Six did distinguish its self as a portable Spider Man game that doesn’t suck, but it doesn’t distinguish its self as a worthwhile game. Not worth the time to hunt down, whether you’re a Spider Man fan or not.

Teddy Bear and Princess Leia have apparently taken Sandman and Vulture's spots in the Sinister Six.
