Mascot racing games have had their ups and down. The Mario Kart series, Diddy Kong Racing, as well as Crash Team Racing on the Sony PlayStation, were the ups. South Park Rally, and every Crash Racing game after the first, were the downs. Looney Tunes Space Race is the middle area. Barely. With some load times reaching 25+ seconds, a limited amount of characters to choose from, every weapon seeming having a homing capability, as well as inaudible music and some unfaithful voice overs, you’d be quick to dismiss this as yet another company trying to make a quick buck by suckering poor saps that are Looney Tunes fans. Fortunately, the visual presentation is strong enough, with great character models, as well as diverse, yet overly simplistic maps. The controls seem to lack any change between characters, other than maximum speed. You can earn coins during races to unlock different things, although the unlockables tend to make the game more frustrating (infinite random power ups come to mind). While it’s definitely not the worst kart racing title on the market, it’s not exactly the greatest one either. If you can tolerate the cheap weapons, lack of character variety and unproductive audio presentation, Looney Tunes Space Race is about as average an experience you can have with the genre.

The quality of the cel shaded visuals is top notch, though some backgrounds are a bit too simplistic for their own good.
