365//365: Day 105 – Perfect Dark Zero (360) [PP]

04.15.2010

After waiting years for Joanna Dark to make a return to the video game world, we are treated to Perfect Dark Zero — a prequel made on the Xbox 360, which feels little like Joanna’s previous exploits on the Nintendo 64. The visual and audio presentation comes off as an amateur attempt, barely up to par for an early 360 title. The biggest crime however, is how poor the multiplayer game is. It takes way too many bullets to take out any opponent, whether it be shotguns, handguns or anything else in-between. Each character looks absolutely ridiculous moving around and the stages themselves look more akin to a high res Xbox title, rather than an Xbox 360 title. Mix in an extremely boring single player game and you have yet another example of Rare becoming a shell of their former selves since Microsoft acquired them. Although you can pick this one up for dirt cheap, there really is no reason why you should. The gun play on the single and multiplayer modes is weak, the single player drags and the multiplayer feels like it was slapped together at the very end. One of the biggest disappointments I have ever experience in gaming.

Your experience with Perfect Dark Zero is reflected off the expression of this enemy -- lifeless and disinterested.
