I knew full well Final Fight Streetwise was garbage. That didn’t stop me from trying to find a copy in a collectible condition for months. It was that certain piece of garbage that I just HAD to have. How bad is it?, well, when controlling your camera is as successful as shot putting a Buick with your pinkie toe, the game already failed right off the bat.

You get a slow delay between pressing the direction you want to move the camera, and the camera actually moving. Not only that, but in tight quarters, your character becomes a transparent close up shot, instead of maybe the wall in front of him being transparent. This makes fighting multiple enemies in tight quarters either a precarious affair, or just nearly impossible. Your light attack has a painfully short range, while your hard attack does mediocre damage. The first big fight in the pool hall can sum up how combat is for the majority of the game. The roach killing mini game is just a travesty of all that’s gaming. Too much choppiness with the pacing of the story. One minute it’s a serious game, and the next you’re running around trying to kill roaches in a mini game of sorts.

Final Fight Streetwise has one of the more lopsided visuals you’ll see on the Xbox. Character models are detailed enough, but vehicles around you….Oh my lord. I’ve never seen something so misplaced in a video game in my life. They look like dwarfed, texture less and lifeless pieces of nothing. The roaches in the mini game have two frames of animation and barely look like roaches. Audio wise, the music doesn’t fit the game whatsoever, and the voices sound uninterested in performing their jobs.
.

The character models look good enough, but when parked cars look like cardboard houses that were painted by a blind ferret, it drags the whole visual presentation down.

I got more than what I paid for! I knew full well that I was paying for a turd, and this one will leave skid marks in my memory for years to come. Other than character detail, I really can’t say a good thing about Final Fight Streetwise. You can unlock the original Final Fight in the game, but the emulation is no where up to snuff. So basically, there’s really nothing important going for this game at all. If you want to see how not to transition a fan favorite title from 2D to 3D, play Final Fight Streetwise….or better yet, Google it and don’t even bother trying to find a copy to add to your collection.
