So this weekend was pretty intense. I did the capture the flag event on Friday. The event wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good. They could have benefited from some more area recon. There were a few hundred people there and some assassins, yes those type of assassins. So what went wrong with the game? Not enough structure, the game devolved into just kids running around. I hear someone got hit by a car during the game. The rules weren’t being enforced properly and there were quite honestly too many cars and people out. I hear the Shadow Government is working on some sort of game, we’ll wait and see. I think the toughest things with live games like this is crowd control and structure. Perhaps since all the intense things I’ve done maybe I was expecting too much from the game, I don’t know

The next thing was right after the game was a party thrown by our good friends over at NY-T. It was their Tokyo Music Night, the were giving out free Asahi beer. I am more a sake man myself, I think if i were to drink beer I would drink Kirin because it’s named after Kirin or is it the other way around? Anyway the music and DJ’s were pretty lively. You know I had to get on the floor and shake my groove thang. There were some Choco Lemon heads there already such as Wally and Basek. So we all partied pretty hardily I might say. The venue was a cozy bar with a DJ both in the back and seats. I think this was their first event like this and I would say it went well. If you want more details check them out here.

Sat was the Halo 2v2. It went well and I got to try out some lan settings. 211 was in the house and took second place. Even though there were a few teams the competition was fierce with 211 coming back from losers to take second place.

Evo was going on this weekend so I’ll have to definitely have to talk about that. Evo is the largest North American fighting game tournament. So I sent Andre because Lemon was already going. Andre didn’t do so bad, he qualified but the main event was Diago vs Justin. The match was epic however Justin lost. Next year plans to be extremely good. Why because I’ll be going >;D. There was a 5 on 5 and the East Coast won it. It’s nice to see people that show up at our tournies win it. Needless to say I was emotionally spent watching the finals.
Anyway yes there are videos here they are.
Here’s Andre talking general shit
And the grand finals

I found this on the New York Tokyo Website about the party!
Andre’s too damn funny.
A shame I landed over there two days after Evo. A bigger shame that Vegas doesn’t know what Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike is, cause every ‘arcade’ there had either MvC2 (ugh), MvC, Alpha 3 (why?) and ONE machine for SF3:NG. And a Simpsons arcade machine with a broken Up on Bart’s side. Still dunno why I came back to NYC though. Vegas minus traffic light system and no 3S > NYC.
I did peek at the Evo SF4 finals before I left. Pretty damn fun to watch, and the result was a sliver of health away from what I hoped for it to be. First time I’ve actually been entertained by a big time tournament match of SF4. 3S is still my favorite though. Maybe I’ll hit the gym again soon and try to recapture my 3S glory and, if it’s still featured, try my luck on 3S next Evo.
