Dare da?! Gatchaman CGI movie teaser!

At Anime Expo 2009, a teaser was reveled for the Gatchaman CGI movie. You can watch it here !

This big screen adaptation of the classic anime series is directed by Kevin Munroe (TMNT). This movie is based on the old 1970s anime Gatchaman, which was also called “G-Force” and “Battle of the Planets” when it was syndicated stateside. I myself have very VERY fond memories of coming home from school, and totally ignoring my homework to watch it on Cartoon Network. Gatchaman takes place in a future where Alien terrorists attack planet earth, to combat these invaders five young people were genetically altered to be super powered ninjas with a colorful bird motif. The series itself dealt with many environmental issues that were affecting Japan at that time, and it wasn’t even preachy about it. That’s right..I’m looking at you Ted Turner, you can take your Planeteers and shove it. Japan has been doing it since the seventies, and they didn’t need let their powers combine? No…they would frickin’ ninja the CRAP out of aliens who were polluting our earth! Solar powered Jet? NO! They had a jet that turned into a giant fire bird that would break the sound barrier and totally DESTROY battleships. And you know what, as I said before..it wasn’t preachy! Nope! Not one bit at all! It was just thinly veiled with the environmental social issues. OK…enough ranting…bottom line, I’m excited for this movie…can’t wait to see it.
Also on a side note, this marks the second classic anime adaption Imagi is producing. Imagi studios is also behind the upcoming Astro Boy movie.
