Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

06.23.2009

What many Alice in Wonderland fans have secretly been wishing for, has finally come true. Tim Burton will be making his own version, and I think it’s safe to say his imagination and style is perfect for it. Set to release March 5th, 2010 it will feature Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bona Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit.

The story starts off at a party, a now 17 year old Alice is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty onlookers. This causes her to run away, where she once again follows the White Rabbit down the hole into Wonderland. While the creatures of Wonderland are convinced they have the right Alice, Alice herself is not so sure as she can’t remember her original visit. On the verge of a revolt, they expect and hope for her support, but how can she in such an unfamiliar world?

I’m really excited they casted Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. I’ve always been a fan of him even before I knew who he was. His performances in Edward Scissorhands, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Sweeny Todd blew me away. His ability to really get into a character but also make it his own, while at the same time giving the audience this character’s dark sense of insanity will fit in well with what I always imagined the Mad Hatter had the potential to be.

Aside from that I just hope they do something about Anne Hathaway’s eyebrows. Super blond hair with super dark eyebrows just doesn’t work. Not only that but they’re kind of cave man like… I think they made of point of that in The Princess Diaries.

I live out in Seattle, Washington and work in the gaming industry. Gaming and I have a casual relationship right now, as I was big on MMOs for many years. I won't hesitate to get competitive though! I'm also a fan of anime and most things nerdy. I'd rather watch the History and Discovery channel more than anything else when I'm in front of the TV! Back in the day I jumped from Super Nintendo, to Dreamcast, to the original XBOX. By most gamer's standards I was deprived. High school was the first time I really got serious about games when a friend of mine got me in to Ragnarok Online. From there I jumped to L2 and FFXI. Now I play many genres and styles of games, and am nerdier than ever!
