The Music of Kanon Wakeshima

Kanon Wakeshima will be playing at 2009′s Otakon. However I think she’s still somewhat unknown. About a year ago I fell in love with her work. Playing the cello since she was 3, she now plays and sings professionally. Her singles “Still Doll” and “Suna no Oshiro (Castle of Sand)” were featured in the 1st and 2nd season of the anime Vampire Knight. I think what’s most interesting though, is that she’s being produced by Mana (Lead guitarist of the visual kei band Malice Mizer, and also designs his own line of Lolita clothes) which probably explains why all her dresses are totally outrageous and Lolita inspired.

Her newest album “Shinshoku Dolce” released 2 days ago on the 28th, so you Otakon goers will probably be some of the first to hear her new songs live. Defiantly don’t miss out on this, because it should be a real treat!

I live out in Seattle, Washington and work in the gaming industry. Gaming and I have a casual relationship right now, as I was big on MMOs for many years. I won't hesitate to get competitive though! I'm also a fan of anime and most things nerdy. I'd rather watch the History and Discovery channel more than anything else when I'm in front of the TV! Back in the day I jumped from Super Nintendo, to Dreamcast, to the original XBOX. By most gamer's standards I was deprived. High school was the first time I really got serious about games when a friend of mine got me in to Ragnarok Online. From there I jumped to L2 and FFXI. Now I play many genres and styles of games, and am nerdier than ever!
