Michael Jackson (8/29/58 – 6/25/09)

06.25.2009

Michael Jackson has been found dead, and he was only 50 years old. This has been confirmed by about everyone short of CNN. Probably one of the top three musical personalities ever, Jackson provided countless hits and memorable songs, starting with the Jackson 5. From Thriller, Bad, Black or White and so many other songs, he was the biggest act for over a decade. Even with past controversy and image shattering issues that came up, no one could ever take away the fact that Michael Jackson was one of, if not THE most famous musical personalities to have ever existed. Tremendous tragedy for those who have ever listened to any of his songs.

Up top (hopefully) is one of my favorite MJ tracks done live, called You Are Not Alone.

I just want to add that the reaction and response has been as big as his reactions and responses when he toured around and made publicity stops. People standing outside talking about him, in my local pizza shop they had a television set on with a dozen people glued to the set, people everywhere talking about him, his passing and his music. It’s amazing how many people are just stopping their daily routines to discuss MJ, whether it was about his music or his passing. You will be hard pressed to ever find someone who has left that much of an impact to everyday people, where they’d just stop what they were doing and look at the reports, or talk about it to each other. Between Farah Fawcett, Ed McMahon and Michael Jackson, this has been the worst 48 hour or so period in entertainment in a long time.
