Kojima Comes Out Swinging at E3 2009

06.02.2009

Kojima dropped some serious surprise bombs on us at E3, first being that the Metal Gear Franchise will be making an appearance on the XBOX 360 with the new game Metal Gear Solid: Rising. The other announcement he made, not much of a surprise is the new PSP Metal Gear Game; Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. What can we expect from these two games? Lets break it down.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising focuses not on Solid Snake, but on the Antagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2, Raiden (Excuse me while I flip out in joy). Raiden will be equipped with the Cyber-Ninja armor that he wore prior the ending of Metal Gear Solid 4. Another thing to note about this game is that they have dropped the usual tag line of Tactical Espionage Action and it has been replaced with Lightning Bolt Action. Could this be a play on that Raiden is the main character or that the game will be taking a more Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden approach to the game play, who knows.

The second game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker takes place three years after Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. From what has been said about this game, it is more of a direct sequel to the game than Tactical Ops was, focusing even more indepth and filling in the missing events of the Metal Gear Solid story by telling us what happened during the Outer Heaven story arc. The game looks excellent, and hopefully fans of the series won’t be disappointed.

Also there has been word of two other Metal Gear games coming out. Metal Gear Portable OP + and Metal Gear Solid the essential collection. It is already pretty obvious what these two games are going to be, so I won’t have to go much into it.

I’m really excited for the PSP game, the graphics look nice. Also have no problems with Raiden being the main focus for the 360!

A quick update! Just found out that Rising will be multi-platform. Also I totally agree with you. Alot of people gimmie smack for it, but I prefer Raiden over Snake and Big Boss
