New Haruhi episodes confirmed

A new Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya episode has aired. Apparently new episodes will be airing interspersed with the originals.

This episode, which subbers are referring to as the first episode of season 2, starts out with Haruhi talking about Tanabata (Japanese Holiday), then shortly after declares that the whole brigade will be making wishes for the holiday, using some bamboo that she chopped down behind the school. After club is over for the day, Asahina takes Kyon aside and asks him to accompany her 3 years into the past. This leads to some interesting realizations for Kyon and Asahina. Not only that but we get to see an adorable middle school aged Haruhi.

The 2nd season of Haruhi reminds me much of the first, it has the same feeling. That’s not a bad thing though, I really liked the 1st season. The first episode seems to shed some light on back story from things that we already knew, while throwing in a few plot twists. Overall it was a pretty enjoyable episode, I’m looking forward to what they come up with and hope that they can improve on the current story.
