Cencoroll – Revived from the depths of production hell

05.17.2009

After being in production hell, Cencoroll has been picked up by Sony’s anime production company Aniplex. It was originally part of Anime Innovation Tokyo, a company who provides support to independent creators who wish to animate their ideas. Cencoroll was one of the ideas chosen out of 20 winners. At first it was set to release in 2007, but ended up being delayed. Now that Aniplex has picked it up, I think that we can expect a definite release.

What really impresses me here, is that it was all done by one person. Not that it’s the first time something like that has been done, but to imagine the sheer amount of work and dedication that went into making something as polished as this will earn my respect even if it turns out to be a let down on the story side. However it does have an unusual plot…

The story begins with Yuki and her friend Tetsu. Tetsu happens to own a strange blobish creature named Cenco as his pet. After a giant monster appears in town and sends its citizens into panic, it is up to the trio to fight the battle.

Alright, so there hasn’t been a lot of information released about the story, but that’s ok, I think the trailer speaks for itself more than any of the plot explanations I’ve seen thus far. While the Spring season made me wary to get hyped about anything, I can’t help but feel a little bit excited for what this show hints to promise.

I live out in Seattle, Washington and work in the gaming industry. Gaming and I have a casual relationship right now, as I was big on MMOs for many years. I won't hesitate to get competitive though! I'm also a fan of anime and most things nerdy. I'd rather watch the History and Discovery channel more than anything else when I'm in front of the TV! Back in the day I jumped from Super Nintendo, to Dreamcast, to the original XBOX. By most gamer's standards I was deprived. High school was the first time I really got serious about games when a friend of mine got me in to Ragnarok Online. From there I jumped to L2 and FFXI. Now I play many genres and styles of games, and am nerdier than ever!
