Noobs. “how do i do that cool thing that he does?!” pt 1

I think a good majority of us gamers have arrived at a point in our gamer lives where the execution of proper commands seems like something a toddler should be able to do. Even the simplest of commands, such as taking cover in Gears, a hadouken in SF, even jumping on top of a goomba in good ol’ Mario.

But what about those who have yet to experience these games? What if a person wasnt allowed to play games as a kid? what if they were Amish(spelling?) at one point in their lives? Well that would be what we experienced, seasoned, casual, etc etc, gamers call a newb, or noob depending on preference.

HOW DOES ONE BECOME A NEWB?

the answer is simple. You do not become a newb, you start off as a newb. It isn’t a prestigious title that you look forward to, its a period of time that you look back upon with fondness because it is way behind you now.

WHAT COMES AFTER NEWBDOM?

Theres quite a few answers to that and it all depends on your level of commitment to determine where you will fall, or rather rise to. I think that one level above a newb is a scrub, where basically you are trying to be decent but you lack the knowledge to be at the level you want to be. Above that, i think casual is the next step, where you are good enough to enjoy the game and some of its intricacies but either you arent good enough to go pro, or you don’t strive to be. The next step away from newbdom is Adept. of course the list continues until you reach tourneyking/queen.

HOW DO YOU EVOLVE FROM BEING A LV1 NEWB?

Well there are a few key ingredients to a successful evolution. Probably the biggest ingredient is DETERMINATION AND COMMITMENT. The road to being a good player is incredibly long and treacherous. One does not simply walk into Mordor. If you are seriously considering moving on from newb to a more advanced gamer, you have to want it bad enough to take all the mistakes that you will undoubtedly make, all o fthe game overs, the losses, and the occasional desire to give up.its all apart of the process and EVER kind of gamer experiences this
