Well, it looks like the new spring anime season has officially started. And man, it seems we have a whole LOT of action and such going on here. Me..well..several stuck out in my mind.
Shin Mazinger Z: OK yeah…I was waiting forever and a month for this series, and man I am GLAD I did. The first episode really did confuse me because there was no plot, just tons of random events happening in the episode, then I realized..this wasn’t the first episode at all! What I was watching was more like an episode zero. An episode made to set us up, to wet the palette and make us want to watch more of it. Now when I actually saw the real first episode, holy crap..I was hooked. They really took the old school mazinger z storyline, and put a lot more into it. The artwork is spectacular, voice acting is incredible though a lot of old school fans of the series may need to get used to the new voice of Kouji Kabuto since its not Hiroya Ishimaru, but in my opinion it fits really well. The writing and dialogue are great and of course a very rockin’ intro. I give 5/5.
Full Metal Alchemist The Brotherhood: I’m kind a glad I went into this series with a clean slate and not expecting a total pick up of Season 1. This is a total restart of the series, I think this was made just for folk who are new to the series and wanna watch the anime. I..am kind of confused by WHY they made this series to begin with. Me, I was kind of hoping of a fresh new series based more on the manga storyline rather than how the original anime did it, but so far…it really..doesn’t seem at all that different. Sure the storytelling is different, some new additions and elements to how the story was told in the anime but its like I’m drinking Pepsi with a new label. Just because its done up new doesn’t mean the flavour will change.
Queens Blade: You know…there are a lot of boobs in this series. A lot of bare boobs…mmhm…chicks fighting…getting naked…and shooting acid from said boobs. OH..and exploding boobs. There really isn’t much to it than from what I said in that lil’ blurb there. Its one of those series that you don’t even need watch fansubs for to follow. I..really suggest avoiding this, I only watched it out of morbid curiosity. You want a good series with chicks fighting and giant boobs, watch Agent Aika. Lots of fan service, lots of fighting…mediocre writing, but lots of fan service. *thumbs up!*
All in all…this season has been very hit or miss in my opinion. I think I will console myself and watch some Astro FIghter Sunred…maybe some Hayate the Combat Butler, or I can cross my fingers and hold my breath for a decent Gundam series again. WALLY OUT!!
