Go Nagai, the man…the myth and the legend…

April 4th…why is that day important to me? I will tell you why. April 4th is the premiere of Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z Hen! Can I get a HELLS YEAH from the Super Robot fans?!

This series is going to be based on the Z Mazinger manga. Which is different from Mazinger Z..think of it as what Ultimate Spider-Man is to Spider-Man. Same premise but different twist on it. The main reason why I am so amped about this series is that Go Nagai is one of my top favorite all time authors when it comes to Anime. The guy is the grandfather of modern super robot series. A Lot of super robot anime creators give alto of props to Go Nagai for inspiration for their own series.

Besides making several Super Robot series (Mazinger Z, Grendizer, Great Mazinger, and Getter Robo), he has also made several very iconic series. Such series as Cutey Honey; this series was a huge turning point in the magical girl genre as in it was a magical girl series that highly directed to a male audience. He was also known for his super violent series such as Devilman, Violence Jack, and Black Lion just to name a few. He is also well known for his various horror series, and….for EROTICA…giggidy. Not the stuff you see now a days, no not by far my friend. He took his own spin on it. Look up Kekko Kamen when you get a chance.

Now I can go on and on about this myself on how great Go Nagai is, how his series Devilman was one of the series that got me into Anime to begin with. However…I will turn this over to you dear reader. Not to ask a question on how Go Nagai has affected your anime fandom life, but which Manga artist or anime writer has made an impact in your life and earned that top spot on your list.
