Times like these are unforgiving. With the economy in the state it’s in now, gamers have seen some top-dog companies brought to their knees.
Last night, something few saw coming, happened. Gamers learned that a site they’ve trusted for all kinds of services since 1999, FileFront.com, is closing. This isn’t just a “Closed until further notice” or “Renovation” sign posted on the front door, it’s a permanant farewell.
Ziff Davis is a Chicago-based media company. According to MCVUK, in 2008 Ziff Davis filed for Chapter 11. In January, Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine announced its last issue.
Today, the veil was lifted.
The following Magazines and Websites are now permanantely discontinued:
Electronic Gaming Monthly
Games for Windows: The Official Magazine
Computer Gaming World
GameNOW (a.k.a EGM2 and Expert Gamer)
GMR
Official US PlayStation Magazine
Yahoo! Internet Life
Xbox Nation
Patch Management
Small Business Center
PC/Computing
Sm@rt Partner
Windows Sources
Ziff Davis – Comic Groups
PC Magazine
Filefront
R.I.P.
It’s always a sad day to see a website or magazine we know so well get discontinued, but the number of projects shut down here is downright concerning.
