What am I playing?

I love to play a bunch of different games and not all of them may be good. So take that as a disclaimer and a warning. Recently my played titles include Mirrors Edge(the real Parkour simulator, for some reason whenever I watch one of their cut scenes I can’t help but go on line and check insurance quotes or go play fear effect.),Saints Row 2( I can’t get enough Keith David.) Fallout 3 (the douchebaggery simulator) and of course Fable 2.

There is one title that I almost always will be drawn to. I guess maybe because they are a part of my childhood or something but if you haven’t guessed it by now then it’s Tomb Raider. I would play ALMOST any game in the series. Why almost? Angel of Darkness just seemed wrong. That still didn’t stop me from reading up on the mythology, game story and watching cut scenes.

Just what draws me to this series? It’s the mythology honestly. After playing the first one I was inclined to look up the actual St. Francis folly in history to see the story behind it. In all the TR’s it was the same for me. So when Underworld came out (I picked up and made love to Legend already) this only seemed right. It’s pretty interesting stuff in this one because it deals with the Norse gods,not unlike Too Human which is the retelling of Beowulf. It also picks up at the first one because Lara is looking to save her mom who is trapped in another dimension.

In any case the game looks good. Lara gets dirty, which I guess is a new feature to add to the ‘realism’ and her boobs jiggle,which also adds to the uhhh ‘realism’. She also rag dolls out and screams which adds to err the ‘realism’. The faulty case of this game isn’t the visuals , the sound, or even the acting (which is straight out of a B movie) but the goddamn controls. Like most women in my life she does not do what I tell her to do. Neither does she do what I need her to do. Many deaths because she would not jump in the direction that I wanted her to. It could be the cameras fault. In spite of this the control scheme is good it works for the game. The combat is easy and I find myself round housing things then shooting it in the face. They added bullet time err adrenaline to the game so she does more damage. Thanks Edios !! Since at the time of this post Square Enix owns TR.l hope in the next one they giver her material and summons or even a limit break. I mean hey she’s already wielding the hammer of Thor now.

at the end of the day Lara I love you. Even if you do get stuck on things, jump to our doom and don’t listen to a thing I say.
