Common Sense Media says:
“Heavy violence, strong language — and now nudity,” the group said. “Thought this M-rated game series couldn’t go any lower? Think again.” Common Sense Media reviewer Marc Saltzman said that The Lost & Damned, developed by Rockstar Games and published by Take-Two Interactive Software, contains depictions of full-frontal male nudity. It also includes graphically violent scenes, including one in which a gang member’s face is pressed against the spinning wheel of a motorcycle — splatter! The game, Saltzman said, “should be kept away — far away — from children.”
To all who agree with Common Sense Media let me be clear:
Turning on today’s TV, or going to see a movie will not get you anything better than what you have found in GTA4. I find their quote senseless and irrelevant unless it was targeted at mainstream media in general. This is an M RATED GAME!!!! CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING M RATED GAMES! What age range do we consider children, because at 18 I believe a child is considered an adult.
It is parent’s responsibility and store owners’ responsibility not to sell these children games. Ask for ID’s, monitor the games your children play, go with them while they make purchases etc. Please do not point the finger at someone to blame. It is not the game industry fault the true responsibility lies at home.
This is not only to you Common Sense Media but to all who have this outrageous attitude. Please stop turning a double standard to the game industry by not focusing on the constant violence, explicit language, sexual exploitation paraded in our children faces day in a day out as they go to school or cross the streets.
If this is the issue you are trying to resolve the problem is much bigger than this and attacking a video game that has accurately positioned itself within the market it wants to sell to is not common sense it is foolish and cowardly.
